Proceedings and Presentations

The proceedings for the Centralia Swine Research Update are an important component of the event and we would appreciate receiving 1-2 pages for the research review (including your name, address, telephone/fax numbers and e-mail address) by January 10th, 2012.

Send to Linda Dillon: linda.dillon@ontario.ca

The proceedings contain summaries of the speakers' presentations, as well as several written submissions on topics that cannot be presented during the program because of time limitations. These proceedings are widely distributed throughout Ontario, and abroad, including posting on this website. A written summary of a presentation is expected; Powerpoint slides alone are not adequate.

Formatting Manuscripts

When preparing manuscripts for the proceedings, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Contributions should be 1-2 pages in a word-processing document (e.g. Wordperfect, Word or rtf), not pdf. Feature presentations or other considerations may justify longer manuscripts.
  2. Please use Times New Roman 12-point font, single-spaced consistently.
  3. Use Bold font for section headings if needed. Please avoid the use of word processor "styles"; they almost always need to changed.
  4. All Tables and Figures should be numbered, be accompanied by explanatory captions, and must be cited in the text.
  5. Avoid the use of vertical lines in tables.
  6. Citations and references are checked and, time permitting, clarification will be requested.
  7. Consider the size of images and embedded objects (e.g. MS Excel objects) and reduce their size where possible.
  8. Manuscripts will be modified to conform to style if necessary. Major changes will be returned to the author for approval if time permits.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically to Linda Dillon:

linda.dillon@ontario.ca

If email is not an option, please submit on diskette or CD. Submissions are required by January 10th, 2012 to provide time to prepare the proceedings.
If you have questions please contact Linda at (519) 482-3333.

Audio-Visual Presentations

If you are using PowerPoint please try and use one of the following options:

  1. Send your presentation by e-mail to Linda Dillon: linda.dillon@ontario.ca.
  2. Save your presentation to disk, CD or USB flash drive and bring it with you. We will load it on to the laptop being used that day.
  3. Consider resampling images to keep the size of your presentation reasonable.

Questions or special needs for A.V. equipment - please contact Linda Dillon at 519-482-3333.

Note: If a DVD or Video clip is to be used please contact Linda in advance. A special set-up may be required.
